Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 9, 2026
At Laterly, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and web application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Web Page Content
When you save a web page using Laterly, we collect:
- The URL of the page you save
- The title and main content of the page
- Images and metadata associated with the page
This information is collected only when you explicitly choose to save a page by clicking the extension icon.
1.2 Account Information
If you create an account, we collect:
- Email address (for account creation and login)
- Password (hashed and encrypted)
- Summaries and saved pages associated with your account
1.3 Usage Data
We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve our service, such as:
- Number of summaries created
- Feature usage patterns
- Error logs (without personal information)
2. How We Use Your Information
2.1 Core Functionality
We use your information to:
- Generate AI-powered summaries of saved web pages
- Create audio summaries using text-to-speech technology
- Store and sync your saved pages across devices (if you have an account)
- Provide access to your saved content through our web application
2.2 Third-Party Services
To provide our services, we use the following third-party services:
- OpenAI: For generating text summaries and text-to-speech audio. You must provide your own OpenAI API key, which is stored locally in your browser and never shared with us.
- ElevenLabs (optional): For alternative text-to-speech audio generation. You must provide your own ElevenLabs API key, which is stored locally in your browser and never shared with us.
- Cloudflare R2: For storing audio files (if you have an account and audio is generated).
Important: When you use your own API keys, the content you save is sent directly to OpenAI or ElevenLabs from your browser. We do not intercept or store this data.
3. Data Storage
3.1 Local Storage
If you use Laterly without creating an account, all your data (saved pages, summaries, and audio) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it.
3.2 Cloud Storage
If you create an account, your data is synced to our servers to enable cross-device access. This includes:
- Saved page URLs, titles, and metadata
- Generated summaries
- Audio file references (audio files are stored in Cloudflare R2 with expiration dates)
Audio files stored in R2 have automatic expiration (configurable, default 10 days) and are deleted after the expiration period.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data as necessary to provide our services:
- With OpenAI or ElevenLabs when you use their services (using your own API keys)
- With Cloudflare R2 for audio file storage (if applicable)
- As required by law or to protect our rights
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data we have stored about you
- Delete: Delete any saved page, summary, or your entire account at any time
- Export: Download your data in a portable format
- Opt-out: Use the extension without creating an account (local-only mode)
To exercise these rights, you can use the delete functionality in the extension or web app, or contact us at the email address below.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Passwords are hashed using secure algorithms
- API keys are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage
- Regular security audits and updates
7. Children's Privacy
Laterly is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
